BOHICA ICE INTERVIEW

Presentation

-Complete Name and Age:

Paul Everett - 30

-Native city and city where you live actually

Dallas Texas, Now Viera Florida

-Do you consider video games as a hobby? If is not the case, Do you have any other hobby?

I considered video games a hobby until the past couple of year. At the moment is a lifestye/job. I have other hobbies such as reading, hunting, fishing, movies, running, etc.

-Do you have any other job ?

Yes, I do consulting for Sales Forces, Electronic Medial Record Systems, Practice Management Software, and Dicomm.

-How much time you waste every day on videogames?

Depends on the day. Usually 1 to 2 hours. If it is for a twitch/youtube it can be anwyhere from 8 to 12 hours depending on the project.

-Do you consider yoursel a succesful person?

I wouldn't see why not.

-Do you think you can still making videos in 15 years?

I have no idea what I will be doing in 5 years. You have to adapt to your surrondings and take whatever oppurtinities come your way.

-Have you supported your family and friends when you start making videos?

Nothing has changed.

Education questions

-Can you define, in your own words, the meaning of education?

Education should be getting you ready for the world you face. I believe a good edcuation is one that best prepares you for whatever you chose to do in your life.

- Do you think that education in E.E.U.U is efficient?

No, the system is broken. It will never be efficent unless it is basically rebuilt from the ground up. It is soley monetery driving anymore.

-Do you have a degree?

I have a couple of them.

-Do you think video games could have interfered with your studies?

Anything can interfer with your studies. It depends on the person and the ability to find a balance between all things in your life. If a certain new release did take up more of time then it should... I typically found me stepping up my work ethic to complete whatever needed to be done. I never once chose a video game over a college credit I was paying for out of pocket.

-A few days ago, an American professor was aworded with the title of best tecaher in the world, Do you think that is something positive the fact to create this competition among the teachers?

Teachers are no teachers in the U.S. They are given next to no freedom when teaching a class. Everything has been laid out before hand by the administration. They are just “workers” who do as they are told... so is the best teacher the one who was most efficent in going through the pre-planned study guide?

-Private schools in Spain are considered much better than the public schools, Will this actually happen in United Estates?

Typically the only time Kids go to private schools in the states is for religion. Cathloic, Jewish, Christian, etc. Since you are not allowed to be religious in public schools, parents pay a lot of money for thier kids to have a “x” up bringing... Nothing is different. If anything they are being deprieved of the real world.

Video games questions

-Video games produce more money in the entertainment industry than all the other genres together ( movies, books ... ) , what is more the video games are in continous expansion Which do you think is the future of this industry ?Are we living the golden age of video games?

Video Games are heading towars a collapse. I would consder the early 2000s to be the golden age. Xbox, PS2, Half life, Halo, etc. now the industry is calling itself through broken business models and rehases of products. Too many studies are fighting over a shrinking demographic. Most console/pc players are of the age 22 and up. Teenagers are more connected to mobile games like angry birds, versus new releases like Destiny (250 million dollar development). Unless the video game industry can grab the attention of the youth and pull them away from “casual” games... The industry will be having problems.

-Censorship on video games, necessary or excessive?

Censorship will kill the industry. Video games are Art to a large extent. If a video game goes to far over the line... the press and various organizations will ran down on them. Video games live today because of their stories and art. Who is to say what is and isn't art?

-Do you consider video games an art or entertainment?

As I said in the previous answer. Yes they are Art. They are also the most advanced type of tentertainment where a user can interact with a story and make choices. Instead of watching a 2 hour movie... you are part of the movie.

-Could you quote me a video game that has changed your life or it transmit a message to you?

This War of Mine is a perfect example of a game painting a picture about human hardships and suffering but doing it in a very classy art style.

-Do you think video games with a deep history (Silent hill, Heavy Rain can be better or similar like the literature or a classic movie?

That is up to the producers and the project managers. I think they can... but a lot of variables change the direction of a games production.

-Do you play simulation games? Can you give an example of one game that in your opinion is faithful to the reality?

Spintires... I never ever ever want to be a Truck Driver in Russia carrying logs.

-What do you think about the technology addiction? Is it myth or reality?

People always attack gamers for being plugged into technology too long. Whenever I am playing a game I am usually on a voice server with real life friends, talking, laughing, and having a very “social” time. While in reality I see people glued to their phones waiting for that next text message, playing an App, instantgram, facebook, etc. The addiction is real... but myself as a gamer... When I walk out side after playing something for a hour... I look up at my surrondings... not my phone.
